5 Tips for a Romantic Weekend in Bondi Beach and Environs

5 Tips for a Romantic Weekend in Bondi Beach and Environs

The Sydney area is the perfect destination for a romantic getaway, and Bondi Beach offers some of the most beautiful and exotic sights in the world. The sparkling waters, the mountains, and the shopping —  there is so much to choose from!

Deciding what you want to do on your trip, however, can get overwhelming for any couple. That’s why we’re here to help you with a few tips to keep in mind as you plan your magical getaway to Bondi Beach.

Any great trip needs excellent accommodations, so look no further than Bondi 38. Our serviced apartments are sure to grant you the luxury and functionality your vacation deserves.

Check out our top 5 tips for your best romantic getaway weekend in Bondi Beach and Environs.

1. Try A Scenic Walk

While a walk may not seem like much, taking the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk is one of Sydney’s most iconic treks. You’ll find yourself traveling over 6 kilometers along a cliff trail, taking in the breathtaking scenery as you and your loved one travel by parks, cafes, and picnic spots.

Not all walks are as ordinary as the Bondi to Coogee trail. Try the Federation Cliff Walk if you’re a couple that likes to go off the beaten path and explore a less-common course. This path takes you from Military Road at the north side of Bondi Beach to Raleigh Reserve for a total of a seven-kilometer journey. On this path, you’ll find yourself passing Australia’s oldest lighthouse and find The Gap.

The Gap is one of the best places for whale watching from May to November, and you can see some of the most magnificent views of the Pacific Ocean from there.

2. Get Out On The Water

The surfing scene at Bondi Beach is unlike any other. If you and your partner love surfing, then Bondi Beach might offer you some of the best waves of the year. There are countless surf shops near the water where you can purchase whatever it is you need.

If you haven’t learned how to surf, Bondi Beach is the place to learn. It’s common to see locals trekking down to the water with coffee in hand just to watch the surfers before heading in for a long day in the office, so wouldn’t you love to be one of the spectacles? You and your partner can go out onto the water with one of the countless skilled instructors, and it’s usually pretty easy to get the basics down.

If you’re less apt for ocean ventures and would instead enjoy a pool, try swimming in the Bondi icebergs Club pool. It’s one of the most unique pools in the world, right on the edge of the water, letting the ocean’s waves splash up and onto you as you swim your laps.

This pool is over 100 years old and is set in the cliffs, coming out directly into the depths of the ocean. The pool serves as an oasis in the depths of the chilly Pacific waters.

3. Try The Grassy Knoll

Awaken at sunrise and take a look at the flocks of swimmers, surfers, and photographers all gathering at the break of day by the water. Bondi Beach is never low on energy, especially in the morning.

Are you tired of all of the energy? Try taking a trip to the grassy knoll and relax away from the commotion and enjoy a spot that the locals all know and love.

The “grassy knoll” is a little grass hill just at the northern end of the beach and is one of the places locals love to host picnics, barbecues, and just to relax after a long day on the water.

4. Enjoy A Festival Or Two

Bondi Beach is home to dozens of festivals and events sure to give you an experience unlike anywhere in the world. Between October and November, the coastal walk between Bondi and Tamarama becomes an open-air art gallery with over 100 sculptures decorating the shoreline.

The kite-flying festival in September, called the Festival of the Winds, brings in thousands of unique kites soaring through the sky. From January until February, Openair Cinemas hosts some new releases and cult-classic movies on a giant outdoor movie screen.

There’s even an ice rink at the Bondi Winter Magic festival from June until August- don’t forget, here in Australia, that’s our winter season.

5. Stay In A Serviced Apartment

If you and your partner are looking for the romantic getaway of your dreams, a serviced apartment is an absolute necessity. Rather than being forced to stay in a cramped hotel room, you can have all of the amenities of your place back home.

There is no need to splurge on expensive takeout every night when your apartment comes equipped with a kitchen, letting you and your partner enjoy romantic meals alone away from the often busy nightlife in Bondi Beach.
