Hidden Gems to See in Bondi Beach

There’s nothing quite like starting a vacation with a laid back lunch on the beach, and there’s no beach like iconic Bondi Beach. Bondi Beach may seem like just another tourist spot, but it holds quite a bit of charm that separates it from other beaches.

Once you’ve fed your starving soul, you can think about working off your meal with a bushwalk, a swim, or both! Bondi Beach holds no shortage of unique places to eat, shops to find souvenirs, and other treasures.

If you’re thinking about coming to Bondi Beach yourself or bringing friends or family, check out our list of the top hidden gems for you to put on your must-see list.

Our Top 5 Favourite Places to Eat in Bondi Beach

Bondi Beach has no shortage of restaurants in the area. From burgers to seafood, to pizza — and everything in between. You’re sure to find something to satisfy your taste buds.

1. Bonditony’s Burger Joint

Tony Gosden, Bonditony’s Burger Joint owner, is known as a local legend. Many consider it the best burger place in Sydney. Their menu contains free-range chicken, grass-fed beef, butcher-field to fork, and all sauces are made in-house by Tony himself.

Bonditony’s, family-owned since 2015,  has a fantastic collection of music memorabilia to take a look at while you’re waiting on your food. Gosden worked in the music industry as a band manager, tour manager, promoter, and booking agent for many big bands in Australia. His collection is some of the best in the country.

2. Brown Sugar

Brown Sugar is a local favourite — for over 10 years! Brown Sugar is a contemporary, relaxed bistro run by a team of dedicated professionals passionate about the food they create to deliver a memorable experience.

Brown Sugar is known for providing some of the best food in Bondi Beach with a Mediterranean flair. They are open from breakfast through dinnertime and have various things to try, from vegetarian options to seafood like squid ink pasta with spanner crab, to ribeye steaks or duck.

3. Da Orazio Pizza and Porchetta

If you’re a fan of Napoli-style pizza, Da Orazio Pizza and Porchetta should be on your list. Napoli- style of pizza is trending at the moment and hard to resist with its homemade sauces. Try an Aperol Spritz, and order some focaccia con porchetta if you want to make sure you won’t leave hungry.

If you’ve got room for dessert, their list is precisely what one would expect from a pizza restaurant — ricotta, gelato, pistachio, bombolini, and tiramisu.  If you’re looking for drinks to accompany your pizza, well-thought-out beer and wine menus are provided.

4. Sean’s

Sean’s is a well-respected restaurant in Sydney, opening in 1993. It adapted early to the trend of bringing your food to the table straight from the farm. The menu varies regularly but serves a three-course menu with the choice of two dishes in each course. The meal also includes appetizers and house-baked bread.

The restaurant is small, only housing 45 seats with a handful of outdoor seats available. Sean’s is adjacent to an intimate cocktail bar sharing an incredible view of the ocean.

5. A Tavola

A Tavola, established in 2014 on Bondi Beach, has a menu that emphasizes fresh, local, and sustainable seafood.  If you’re looking for some good seafood paired with a glass of wine, A Tavola is an excellent place for you to try. Consider trying the red cabbage, which is well-known as their specialty.

Due to its trendy menu items, you’ll want to book ahead to reserve a table.
