How To Be Safe When Traveling During The Pandemic

You’ve been working hard all year, and now you’re longing for a vacation — we get it, we’ve been there too! As your travel plans start to come together, one destination keeps popping up: Bondi Beach, Australia. It’s got plenty of things on offer —  from sightseeing opportunities like visiting famous landmarks or taking part in some sports activities, as well as live entertainment.

The pandemic has been taking its toll on the world for two years now. Needless to say, we’re all overdue for a vacation! You know that travel during a lockdown is not recommended, but as circumstances continue to improve around the world, and lockdowns become a thing of the past, it’s time to get back out there and enjoy yourself.

So, how can we be safe while traveling this season? To put your mind at ease, we have compiled some helpful information that should help answer your questions and ensure you have a safe and fun journey.

Safety Precautions for Traveling During COVID

Bondi Beach is one of the most famous beaches in the world. Tens of thousands of people from all around the globe come to visit every year. It’s very popular for its  beautiful scenery, wide variety of accommodations, fantastic eateries, and welcoming atmosphere. Coming to Sydney to visit Bondi Beach, there are a few safety precautions to keep in mind.

Play it Safe While Flying

You’ll probably need to take a flight to your vacation destination. When flying, you should take some precautions to ensure your safety.

Consider Your Travel Dates

Before you rush into buying your ticket, you should take some time to consider when you want to travel. If you’re able to be flexible, you should consider a mid-week departure. Doing so will mean that you can travel when it’s less busy. Fewer people mean that you’re less likely to come into contact with someone who’s sick.

Be Cautious While On Board the Flight

When taking a flight, it’s a good idea to choose a window seat, so there’s less traffic. If at all possible, try to keep an empty seat between you and other passengers. You’ll also want to take a moment to wipe things down (e.g., armrest, seat belt buckle, table tray) with an antibacterial wipe.

Pack Light

You’ll want to reduce the number of people who are handling your luggage. To do so, you may want to try to only take a carry-on bag with you. If you decide to check a suitcase, make sure you wipe the handles off with an antibacterial wipe when you pick it up from baggage claim.

Be Smart About Your Activities

Although there may be activities that you’ve always enjoyed participating in while you’re on vacation, you may want to skip them this year. For instance, crowded indoor activities (e.g., trendy bars, karaoke cafes) will likely increase your risk of coming in contact with someone who is ill. Enjoy your time as you see fit – just remember that open-air establishments are better suited to COVID safety best practices. Always obey the precautions put forth by the establishments you visit for the safety of you and the other patrons.

Furthermore, you’ll want to take additional precautions when travelling around an area. The precautions you take will depend upon your method of transportation. Here are a few things you should remember, though:

  • No matter where you end up for your vacation, wearing a mask indoors is always recommended for the safety of you and others (whether or not you are vaccinated).
  • Buses and trains limit the number of passengers they’re allowing on board to help keep everyone safe.
  • If you’re renting a vehicle, you may be able to enjoy a contactless check-in, curbside pickup, or vehicle delivery. Once you’re inside the car, you may want to use an antibacterial wipe to wipe off the steering wheel, door handles, gearshifts, instrument panels and controls, windows, and doors.
  • Make sure you always carry a hand sanitiser with you while travelling. You never know what you may need to touch along the way. A quick squirt of sanitiser will help you remain protected when soap and water aren’t an option.

Enjoy Your Vacation Despite the Pandemic

By heeding these precautions, you’ll be able to enjoy your next vacation as safely as possible. Now the only thing left to do is make your plans.
